"Good morning Fame," I say, dumping sport and performance horse grain, an array of supplements and vitamins, and corn oil into her feed tub. "How's my girl doin'?" She nickers happily, and I pour a two and a half quart mixture of hay extender pellets and alfalfa cubes into her feed tub after the grain. I add a bit of warm water to soften up the alfalfa cubes, then begin to do my chores. First off, I get a bale of hay, and cut it open. I pull four flakes from it, and stuff them into her hay net. I take her water buckets out of her stall, dump them, clean them, put them back, and fill them up. I lead her out of her stall, and crosstie her for a minute so I can clean her stall. I grab a wheel barrow and pitch fork, and strip her stall free of bedding. I sweep up the bottom, then dump my wheel barrow. I grab a bale of straw, and open it up in her stall. I spread the straw around, then throw away the strings. I bring her back into her stall, and she goes back to eating. I grab a grooming kit, and set to work giving her a really good grooming. As usual, I do my thorough grooming process: grooming block, hard brush, soft brush, face brush, peppermint scented grooming wipe, coat enhancer spray, detangler for mane and tail, then a brush, to brush the tangles from her mane, tail, and forelock, hoof pick to pick her hooves, and lastly, hoof conditioner to keep her hooves from cracking. When I'm finished, I admire my work for a minute, then put her protective boots on, get her ready, and lead her out of the barn.
